Congratulations to all the recipients of New Year’s Honours in the District including:
A KNZM for (now) Sir Chris Parkin for services to philanthropy and the arts. Chris is a member of the Rotary Club of Wellington.
Another member of the Rotary Club of Wellington, Peter Cullen, was awarded a MNZM for services to law, governance and youth. Peter is the driving force behind the Democracy Project for secondary school pupils, supported by several clubs in Wellington.
A former member of the Wellington Club, Roger Drummond, was awarded a MNZM.
Professor Beverley Lawton was awarded a CNZM for services to women's health. Beverley is wife of former AG Steve Lawton in the Rotary Club of Port Nicholson.
We were thrilled that Dorothy Spotswood, partner of Sir Mark Dunaijtschik, was made a Dame for her services to philanthropy. Dame Dorothy has been involved with so many projects, including the Wellington Children’s Hospital. The two of them continue contribute generously to our community.
There may be others that I have missed, but on behalf of the District, we congratulate them all
