Cans ImageThis is a brief update on District 9940’s achievements in the national fundraising activity.

Thank you to all clubs that contributed to this project. The standout performer was the Kapiti club, which appears to have collected the highest number of items nationally across all
districts, with approximately 14,500 items gathered in one day. The next highest contributor in the region was the Marton club. National figures are still being collated.

This event is expected to take place again next year around the same time. Clubs may wish to add it to their project teams’ schedules. I am sure the Kapiti club would be willing to share how they achieved such a strong result. In summary, their approach involved coordinating with the food bank, supermarkets, and Warehouse outlets to run a collection day from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Members handed out a small flyer at the entrance highlighting the items most needed, then collected donated items from shoppers as they exited. Collections were then picked up throughout the day to deliver the items to the food bank.
