A message of appreciation from Natalie Alabaster - Road Safety Education Ltd; (RSE)  RYDA Programme Coordinator Lower North Island

Good afternoon Karen and Freya,

Thank you so much for your support of RYDA and a special thank you to the Pahiatua Rotary Club for supporting the RYDA day at Tararua College.  This was the first time that RYDA has run at the school and we had 55 students participate in the programme day.  The morning began with some fog and light rain, which could potentially have threatened the outdoor speed and stopping session.  But our facilitators were determined it would brighten up and by the time they had finished setting up and the students were ready to begin making their way around the sessions, the rain had cleared.

The passion from the teachers at the school to have road safety messages imparted to the students, equalled that of our own team.  Crash Investigators is often a favourite for the youth and this time (for the first time) we trialled giving the representative from each group of students a lead investigator lanyard.  They were all really keen to get their hands on one of these (see photo attached) and to be up the front asking the survivor questions about their crash.

We had a couple of visitors come to the day and one of them was Dale Prebble from the Havelock North Rotary Club.  His club are keen to support and help being RYDA to the Hawkes Bay, which we are very excited about. I know this is outside of your area, but thought I would share this with you.

Once again thank you so much for your support of RYDA in general and for the support from the Pahiatua Club in helping us bring RYDA to the youth in your local college.
