Interplast Australia and New Zealand
Interplast started in 1983 when a bunch of Rotarians from Down Under worked with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons to start a charity that aimed to provide medical surgery to people with either congenital conditions (cleft lip and palate) or acquired conditions (burn scar contractures) within the Asia-Pacific region.

For over 30 years, it has provided free surgery to those who struggle to access or could not afford such services in at least 17 countries, as well as provide training to the local medical teams to ensure they leave a lasting legacy within the regions visited.

The volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anesthetists, nurses and allied medical professionals provide free professional services while Interplast raises the funding to support the trip and the associated costs of medical equipment.

Rotarians continue to raise significant funds to support the efforts of Interplast and to date, over 70 Rotarians from Australia and New Zealand have accompanied the medical teams as observers and returned as ambassadors for this charity.  We are hoping that we can raise more funds to help more people within the Asia-Pacific region rebuild their lives.
