As you read this first bulletin, the new District Website is up and running. There is more work to be done to polish it and fill in some gaps.  This will happen over the next month or so.
With this new website platform, we have a fabulous opportunity to improve our communication, build resources and do things better - faster, and simpler promoting Rotary and our district to a global audience.

At this time, the three key essential aspects to understand are
  • ClubRunner = website. The website can be (and is) a Zone website, a District website, or a club website. At each level, there is slightly different functionality based on the role required of it. In future, I am simply going to refer to our "website".
  • Clubs do not have to adopt this platform as your website. You can continue with your present site if it is meeting your needs. However, if you choose not to, you may be missing out on some important features which can help you run your clubs and your projects more effectively with less effort.
  • The website platform is designed from the ground up to be usable on any device, - you just need to be connected to the internet. So it works on your cell-phone, tablet, laptop, desktop or TV.
  • The new website platform provides a significant number of advantages over our previous platform for district efforts to support your clubs and your activities. It also provides much easier and more comprehensive member profile management by club administrators. You will not need to use MyRotary in future.
Right now, the three most important topics for club Presidents and Secretaries are
  1. New 9940 website domain name
Please tell everybody to bookmark this URL:  www.rotary9940.org
The new name is part of a drive for a consistent naming strategy for Rotary globally and is being applied across all NZ districts.
  1. Integration of club MyRotary member information into the district website.
Clubs that have achieved integration.
From now on - use the district website to do ALL member administration - ALL adds, moves and changes. The website will synchronise automatically back to RI (MyRotary). However, the reverse is not true. Any changes you do on MyRotary will stay there until you do another "synchronisation" action on the affected member profile.
Transferring members is now very easy and simple.
Clubs who are still "synchronising"
To administer and change member details, you have to be a current club executive (President, Secretary, Executive Secretary/Director or Treasurer).
If your clubrunner "champion" is no longer a club executive - you will not be able to complete this process. Please call me (Richard Stephen  021782633) on how to resolve this.
Clubs who are not engaged
For those clubs who have not yet engaged with me, please get in contact with me real soon so we can complete this process please

3. Adopting Clubrunner as your club website - special offer
The special offer for clubs taking up ClubRunner has been extended to 30/09/2016.  This gives you a little time to understand more about what it could mean for your club and make an informed choice. Currently, four clubs in the district have elected to adopt clubrunner.

Going Forward
There is a bit to learn and understand - none of it complicated. I don't propose to do that here. Instead I will be using the capabilities of our web site platform.
On the website, there will be a special area for ClubRunner updates, FAQ's and How To's. I will update you all later on how I propose to do this. There are still some functions I am learning about!
