Marilyn Stevens
District Governor
(2022 - 2023)

About

Marilyn grew up the youngest of four children in Lower Hutt and attended the local primary & secondary schools then married a local lad named Wayne.

She started her working life in administration which led onto management after studying for a Diploma in Office Management. For a good number of those years Marilyn was Executive Officer of Lower Hutt Free Kindergarten Association administering 19 kindergartens. Later she worked with her husband Wayne in his Construction and Compressed Air Equipment business in Petone. The couple has owned motels in Palmerston North and more latterly Marilyn was the Field Officer for the Cancer Society.

Wayne and Marilyn married in 1976, have two daughters & a son who all live in the greater Wellington region with their four grandchildren.

Marilyn’s passion since 1993 has been Rotary; she was a charter member of Hutt Valley Breakfast Club & has transferred to Plimmerton, Otaki, Takaro, Levin & now Kapiti as jobs have dictated.

Marilyn has been on District Committees ever since she joined Rotary, has been Assistant Governor, was the first woman to lead a Group Study Exchange team overseas in our District, team leader for 2 friendship exchanges, and has been host to around 30 International students over time.

Marilyn has loved every opportunity she has been given. She feels very honoured and humbled to be offered the position of District Governor for 2022-23 and looks forward to the challenges ahead.
