DG MESSAGE OCTOBER 2018

As I continue my club visits I see, even in an area as small as District 9940, a huge variety in the communities that our 53 clubs call home. We are in city and rural communities, affluent and struggling communities, conservative and progressive communities; each with its own needs and opportunities for Rotary service

Rotary Friendship Exchange, September 2018
Vancouver Island and Washington State
District 5020 and 9940

The District 9940 New Zealand Friendship Exchange Team had a wonderful time during its visit to Vancouver Island and Washington State and were extremely well looked after. Our Rotarians enjoyed meeting other Rotarians from a wide range of interests and there were many highlights of the trip. Our District looks forward to a reciprocal visit from the 15th -> 30th march 2019. Host clubs have been arranged and they are looking forward to returning the hospitality experienced by the Outward Bound team. The team consisted of Robert ( Team leader) & Sandra Kyle, David Baker, Anne Abbott, Christine Meredith, Peter & Bev Lillico, David & Raewyn Lusk. Sandra & Robert Kyle - Masterton South Rotary - share their enthusiasm for and highlights of this Friendship Exchange.

Counting Down to World Polio Day. Are you ready to celebrate?

World Polio Day, 24 October, is just a few weeks away. As you make your final preparations, remember to share your club event with us at endpolio.org. Already, hundreds of clubs around the world have planned local events to raise awareness in their communities.

FANTASTIC ROTARY CLUB OF FEILDING FUNDRAISER

On August 18^th the Rotary Club of Feilding held its Annual Theme for A Dream Fundraising Dinner and Auction for Manchester House Social Services Children’s Fund.

This was held in the new venue of St Johns Church Hall and also celebrated our clubs 75^th Anniversary.

The 1940’s theme was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the volunteers (including the Caterers, Musicians and Auctioneer) and our local Business’ for their Sponsorship plus the spirited bidding from attendees which enabled us to present Robyn Duncan the Family Support Social Worker with a cheque for $ 7,150.00 – our best ever total.

The President and Members of the Carterton Rotary cordially extend an invitation to attend their 60th Anniversary Dinner on Friday 16th November @ 7pm at the Carterton Golf Club , Chester Road , Carterton.
