Kia ora koutou katoa
Aotearoa, New Zealand rich with imagery, fires our imagination and encourages us to dream of how we can contribute to building a better world.

Matariki is one such image. The concept is not unique to us.  We share the stars in the Pleaides cluster with the world and with cultures across time and place. The themes behind Matariki are sharing, reflecting, dreaming and planning. Matariki is also a time when we give special acknowledgement and love to the recently departed.

Changeover is a Rotary celebration.  It happens in thousands of clubs and Districts around the world.  Changeover this year celebrated the inspiration and success of 2018-19 that DG Marion Johnston and her team brought to our district.  It introduced me, my world and my team to the district.
However, only in District 9940 in Aotearoa, New Zealand did we celebrate Changeover the way we did at the Wharewaka on the waterfront in Wellington on Sunday 7 July, 2019.  The wairua of our people was palpable.  Tihe mauri ora.

The printed word underpinning 2019-20 was also launched into our e-world this week with an e-copy of the 9940 District Directory.  It has been a marvellous effort and collaboration by all.  A hard copy will follow soon.  These parallel Directory publications highlight the nature of our contemporary communications world.  The e-copy and the hard copy will be identical for a few weeks only.  Soon the hard copy will become a little out of date as new inputs, updates and new information are edited into the revised e-copy where they will be marked up, signed off and redistributed into our password protected Rotary world.

Now begins the work of families, members, leaders, chairs and teams of putting our plans into action.  I look forward to a challenging and exciting journey with you all.

Kia kaha
Kia manawanui
