D9940 Strategic Plan 2019-20
DISTRICT 9940 VISION

Rotary District 9940 is a valued and community-focused organisation that joins local and international leaders and resources, exchanges ideas and takes action.

DISTRICT 9940 GOAL
District 9940 resources its Clubs to enable all their members to fully participate in the Rotary International worldwide network of inspired individuals who translate their
passions into relevant social causes to change lives in communities. This is achieved through our five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation for our clubs’ activities.

•  Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership development plan.
•  Vocational Service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society.
•  Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest.
•  International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more.
•  Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange.

1. SUPPORT AND STRENGTHEN CLUBS
Having members with different perspectives and backgrounds fuels innovation andgives your club a broader understanding of your community’s needs. To strengthen your club and its ability to make a positive difference, involve members, use their unique skills and interests, and give them a voice in the club’s future.

Increase club membership, diversity, and engagement.

2. FOCUS AND INCREASE HUMANITARIAN SERVICE
Through local and international service projects, clubs address global humanitarian challenges by promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, protecting the environment, and ending polio.

Make a difference in your community and across the globe by engaging Rotarians, young people, Rotary alumni, and the public in Rotary programs, our six areas of focus, and Rotary Foundation giving opportunities.

3. ENHANCE PUBLIC IMAGE AND AWARENESS
A positive public image improves your club’s relationship with your community and attracts prospective members.

Enhance your club’s public image and build awareness of Rotary in your community by telling compelling stories about club activities that are making a positive difference.

RI PRESIDENTIAL CITATION 2019-20
The Rotary Citation recognizes Rotary clubs that support each of our strategic priorities by completing certain activities. Clubs have the entire Rotary year to achieve the citation’s goals.

Rotary can automatically verify many of your club’s achievements as long as you keep your club and member information up-to-date in My Rotary. You’ll use online tools like Rotary Club Central to tell us when you’ve achieved other goals. To be eligible for the Rotary Citation, clubs need to begin the year as active clubs that are in good standing and remain so throughout the year. Achievements will be compared with membership figures from 1 July 2018 and will be recognized after the 1 July 2020 numbers are final, on 15 August 2020.

This year, clubs can receive the Rotary Citation With Presidential Distinction when they achieve the Rotary Citation plus one to three additional goals.
