RI Zone 7b Director
The Zone director is an elected member of Rotary International board of Directors and serves for 2 years.

For RI to adequately support clubs and districts and be able to adjust and meet changing needs, RI needs a reliable and timely feedback mechanism. The Zone Director provides this critical communication and feedback role from clubs and districts.

  Rafael (Raffy) Garcia III

Raffy joined the Rotary Club of Pasig, District 3800, as the first non-charter member in January 1971 at the age of 26. From a slow start an impressive Rotary career followed after he became club president in 2006/7, and District Governor 2011/12.

After founding Summa Computer Services Corporation in 1974, and building it into a 44-company international conglomerate, the Mega Group of Computer Companies, Raffy retired from active management in 2009 to concentrate on his Rotary activities, as well as those of the Young Presidents Organisation, of which he is a life member.

Raffy is also an accomplished athlete, holding gold and silver Philippine NCAA medals in 100m and 200m as well as two US Big Six (the predecessor of PAC12) silver medals in Olympic wrestling. He was also captain of the soccer teams of Ateneo de Manila University and Washington State University in the 60’s. A past single handicap golfer with three hole-in-one’s and over 250 amateur trophies to his name, Raffy won the 1977 Pro-Am tournament of the World Cup of Golf which was held at Wackwack Golf & Country Club along with Italian Pro Delio Lovato.

Raffy is married to Minda Acacio Garcia, former club president of the Founding Manila Chapter of Soroptimists International, past Regional Governor for the Philippine Region of Soroptimists International and an incumbent member of the Fund Development Board. She was recently elected as a member of the board of directors of Soroptimists International for 2017-2019. Raffy and Minda have four children and eight grandchildren. Described by a close friend and fellow RC Pasig Club Member, as a selfless Filipino and hero (an ordinary Filipino doing what he usually does day-by-day and achieving a measure of attention because of his deeds), meeting and hearing Raffy at the Conference promises
to be memorable.
