“Te Pahi” - Our Community Bus
Te Pahi is a wonderful partnership between Porirua City Council and a range of sponsors and supporters. The bus was purchased with a Grant from NZ Community Trust. The money donated from Porirua Rotary along with other supporters helped keep the bus in action.
The bus is available free to lower decile (1-4) schools to take school children to educational activities outside of the classroom. Over 20 schools have taken advantage of the bus, visiting many destinations in Porirua and Greater Wellington region.
The project is scheduled to run for 2 years October 2016- September 2018.
Schools have taken up learning opportunities such as Victoria University, City Art Gallery, Te Papa Archives, Mindlab, Weta Workshop Island Bay Marine Centre, Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington Zoo as well as subsidised swimming lessons, regional athletics and participation in Regional Athletics in Masterton.
Advertising-raising club profile: Te Pahi is to carry the Porirua Rotary sign as part of the sponsorship agreement, this will raise clubs profile in local community.
